Mum's stay in the hospital

On Friday, MT and I did homework at the hospital in Mum's ward. She had surgery and returned home this morning. Now she's up and about. Initially the plan was for her to return home yesterday, but that 1 more day of rest in the hospital was very beneficial for her.

When there were no guests around, it was quiet. the 2 of us did our work on the table on the side, which was large enough for the both of us to do work comfortably. We brought up some food from the Delifrance downstairs. The chocolate muffins were yummy. There was a recliner chair in the room too which provided some amusement for us.

I "loaned" to Mum Yuki, my stuffed toy siberian husky: medium sized and soft= very huggable. She stayed overnight with her.

The second day MP went first with the wantan mee soup before it got soggy. I joined them later after i had my bath. the wantan mee soup was the best lunch i had since getting braces. i can eat noodles easily. rice isn't a problem either. and the wantan was soft. I've always liked the wantan mee soup i get at home, never seen or tried any outside.

I brought my work and tried to do it, but a big party of people came. First to arrive was big kuku, his wife and her daughter from a previous marriage. Big Kuku's wife brought nice tasting bao stuff, (i like northern chinese "bao" because they are meaty and got the soup inside them) and some porridge for mum. i didn't know it was porridge because the grain used was different and it had a date inside the bowl. i thought it was some sort of dessert. i tasted it too. It's quite different from cantonese congee. bit too bland for me. i love my cantonese porridges a lot. it's what i grew up on for lunches, with the occasional peanut porridge for dinner accompanying the fried bee hoon. yum.

i noticed that big kuku's wife (what should i call her?) and her daughter dress up. Her daughter was wearing a green dress and heels. i notice that a lot of Chinese people i know, and some that i don't know but have seen before, dress up femininely, with heels always, and either skirt or dresses. it's just an observation. i don't dress up like that. i refuse to wear skirts and dresses when i go out. only school uniforms are the exception. when i was in the hospital room, i was wearing my home shirt, stained with chocolate, and a pair of "slack-time" jeans that used to belong to MP, and flippies(flip-flops).

anyway, my auntie said that my chinese sounds good. this is for someone who is very poor in the command of the chinese language known as mandarin, all chinese languages rather. i told her that i had friends from China(YL and XB) and i hear how they spoke. i also listen to the TV, so i sound the way i am. I advised them to listen to the TV shows, especially the news, to improve the way they speak english. this especially so for my cousin. the 2 mothers were talking about me speaking mandarin and her speaking english. the way i speak english i learnt from watching documentaries and the news. if i'm to learn the chinese language, i will have to learn it very slowly at my own pace and interest. i'm hardly learning anything now. i lost some of my understanding and whatever i learnt, lowering my ability. i just keep practicing speaking chinese when the chance arises, quite often, and listening and trying to comprehend what others are trying to tell me. that's all.

then auntie amy and uncle joe came, followed very soon by auntie naina and her husband, and another person whom i don't know well, and later auntie jac and another of mum's friend, whom i'm not familiar with. Mum was linked with them, with the exception of auntie amy and uncle joe, with ARC, Autism Resouce Centre, my mum's charity, and theirs too. they all have autistic children. auntie amy and uncle joe, however, are familiar with the topic of autistic children and ARC. Big Kuku and his wife and step-daughter left when auntie jac and her friend arrived.

however, with so many people in the room, it was impossible to do homework. I lost the chairs to them, and there was a lack of space in the room and so was putting mum's and MP's stuff into the cupboards and drawers, hide them away so that we could make space for more clutter, and most importantly, mum's food.

auntie naina, her husband, auntie amy and uncle joe left for dinner, leaving auntie jac and friend behind. so much more quiet. i couldn't do homework so i continued to listen in on their conversations, like when the others were around. MP and I helped finish mum's dinner of beef and mash potato. though it was cold, the beef wasn't chewy. the beef was sliced thinly so it won't form a chunky chewy tough inedible piece when cold. good thing for patients, who would most likely take a long time to eat and have no appetite mostly. the beef went well with the capsicum, which had it's flavor infused in the sauce. but that's not to say that hospital food tastes nice. MP and I hopped down to have a bowl of cream of chicken each after that because sharing one person's portion isn't enough to make us full, and the cream soup was easy on my incisors. :D

later when the 2 left, i did my homework. Daddy and KM joined us later, having walked over from home. the carpark was too full. i don't know how they knew this. i didn't know of it. Did my homework, while daddy and KM read newspaper, discussed things quitely with mum, mp did her work, which i "argued" over because it was for "critical thinking" (think GP), and daddy cracked some jokes in his responses to whatever like why he took so long in the toilet, being in his cheerful joke-cracking mood.

I finished maths tutorial 3.5 with the exception for question 8 which i got to rework. HOORAY FOR ME! muhuhahaha!

we cleaned up the place, packed up and walked home, leaving mum to an early night's rest.

the hospital bed was quite hard, causing mum to have soreness in her back and neck. but now she's back to work on her laptop in the balcony. again. never stop working. haizz.

today is holy communion sunday, so no sunday school, and I usually skip church today, it's not compulsory for me to go church today but there'll be a holy communion service today in case you're wondering. I most probably will not attend a church service today.

i'm feeling...
