The Last Day of School. For Life.

Today was the last day of school officially for us j2s. Today was farewell assembly. *sob*

I'd never seen the CC as packed and noisy as today was. A lot of chatter and phototaking.

For the last time, we sang the national anthem. I had never heard the cohort sing that loud before. (we usually mouth, whisper or donno what.) As usual, the girls sing softly, so I can't sing out loud ah, or else stick out like sore thumb or an off-key voice (the latter more likely).

Mr Yit lead the school in farewell chapel, our last chapel. I didn't know that he was an ex-student, graduated in the year we were born! wow. I enjoyed the worship session. Mr Yit prayed for us and i totally agree with his prayer. I do hope that my classmates who are not Christians yet would feel God's love and get to know Him. When we sang the school hymn, the bunch of us sitting near the left end of the cc had to move to near the wall so that the class members sitting in the second row could join us in one row, putting our arms around each other's shoulders. Other classes did that too, some stood on the chairs. We sang out the school hymn loud and proud and cheered at the end of it. I can't describe the wonderful feeling of togetherness, pride, idonnowhat. I'm sure you've felt this feeling too before.

The Chaplain gave his message, telling us to push on and win the race on integrity and character, not to resort to cheating.

We were lead in the farewell version of the song "Lord Behold Us With Thy Blessings". I like that song a lot. I do wish that we all in j2s would be blessed by God.

We watched an amusing meaningful video message from the teachers to us. It was very well done. It was funny and there was this sense of fare well in it. That fare well atmosphere was throughout the school the entire day. WE WILL DO OUR BEST.

The teachers performed the song Unwritten, Mr Leong singing, the bio teacher that leads us in chapel on the acoustic guitar, the taller Mr Leong on the electric bass, and the female (GP i think) teacher that is in charge of mass civics, the one who showed us akeeta and the spelling bee, on the drums. the teachers joined in on stage at the second last verse or chorus.

Then we presented Mrs Lim her gifts from each class. the CG rep or reps going on stage one by one from back stage to present her gift to her. We made a t-shirt and printed her face with a cartoon body wearing the SA uniform on it. She was amused.

A tribute video to her was also screened. We do love our principal, though i'm sure not all of us are close to her or had rough scrapes with her.

the j2 cohort then sang for her "If We Hold On Together". Ms Chia, the DP came up with the idea to do a tribute to her so the gift and song thing was all her ideas. We had to decide and make the gift for her, as well as to choose and learn the song for her.

We then sang the school song. UP AND ON! the gusto :D. and a bit of when the saints go marching in.

After all that, we went to our home rooms for civics. Before Mrs Chan arrived we wrote a message on the T-shirt on which we printed our names at the back. "Mrs Chan, We love(a red heart) You, Love 06SXX"

Mrs Chan played a popular rock song (i've heard it before i think but donno what it is) and that was the background music for her powerpoint presentation: On Your Big Day. referring to our A levels (not our wedding day)(this was the joke on the 1st slide). Don't eat curry or laksa for breakfast, don't try new food... on the day itself must go to the toilet(s) (another quote from the slide) bring a bottle of "brain juice" which is water (another thing from the slide), need i/c and entry proof, pencil case with at least 3 pens, 2 pencils and a compass, GC..., during the paper start with easy question, drink brain juice every 45 min, when got difficult qn take deep breadth, 2marks=3minutes...

and at the last slide she wished us all the best..reminds me of the time when i showed the class the video i made for them on OP dry run 2, the last segment of the video. *sigh* getting emotional...

Ms Sunarfa had passed to Mrs Chan some handwritten postcards she had specially bought (not your regular Zo card). The school also gave each of us a metal keychain with an image of the jacob ballas bridge across the kallang river carved on it. Mrs Chan also laminated for us bookmarks with quotations she made and printed out. the girls had pearly shiny white ribbons while the boys had black ones. my quotation was "calculus has its limits." what does that mean??? some of the quotations were really great. i remember zac's one was "black holes was where God divided by zero." that's funny.

Ms Hon had given us pencils and handwritten bookmarks on tuesday.

We took a class photo, using my tiny tripod and camera, on top of a chair on top of a table near the back of the class, again. heehee. Mrs Chan used her computer to put the text 06SXX on above us on the screen.

later we also took a class photo with ms sunarfa. :D we took photos with nearly every subject tutor we had. didn't take with the GP tutors (our class is split into different groups), nor Mr Yit our ME teacher.

very hungry liao so we finally went down to eat at the reception outside the general office after some photos. now i know why they managed to cater to the entire j2 cohort. they had mini chicken pie, mini quiche, mini sandwiches, and lots of punch. the mini quiche and pie is only about 2 inch in diameter! took photos with XF, YH(photog) and Jaclyn. hmm.
some left, i hung around because my GP class was meeting ms suzie later. YS, EH, Lynn and I went up to sign up for econs consultation, my skirt and bag was white with dust from sitting on the steps leading to the unused "basement". took pic with eli and lynn together. just realised i didn't take photo with melo and HP.
later after some wandering, took photo with celine, then with mr lee, JH, eli (from my class), HR, Nithya, YH, SM and I as a group.

after donating to OCIP (put pencils erasers and sharperners into a box in the cafe), i found lynn, and we went to G101. just before entering the class i took photo with SW.

Ms suzie had ordered cupcakes for us. they're so cute. thanks! thanks to all the teachers for all they've done for us. and thanks to all my friends for the memories, and thanks to my wonderful class for so much more than memories, helping each other in our journey as a saint. (ok, i stole that phrase from the ava video)

btw, i watched the video on tv while at home. the audio quality broke up in some parts, and there was so many performances from cny featured, but hardly anything from elsewhere...dance item by teacher from rapture! 2006, a bit of life concert, a bit of guitar concert, a good portion from orientation. that's it... no sports day, no learning fest, no service learning, and so much more other events?? and i think that the storyline thing where they got 2 juniors to act as graduated saints, i think it's extra. BUT, i must give credit for the fact that the quality is so much better than the dvd i had from my school musical in secondary school. that one i paid $10 for very bad quality. the bits filmed by the media club is fine, it's the part filmed by the stupid outside company. and i must tell the videographers from ava, PLEASE do not KNOCK the camera or keep zooming in and out. :D I MUST say that the AVA has done a lot for the school to keep the assemblies, chapel and donno what else running smoothly.

and i love my photog for the fun times covering events. coool photos yeah? and cheerleading for the teamwork and sporting action.

i passed the big 8R photo around for my classmates and mrs chan to write messages on the cover. i kept it closed till i got home. thanks MT for the markers. i sat down on the sofa and read the messages, indulging in the moment. I am touched by them. Never has people written such messages for me. haha. photos will be up soon! and the videos too...

i'll miss my classmates the most. i'm sure we'll be seeing each other again soon, but the next time that i can guarrantee i'll see EVERYONE in class is at the A levels. May we never lose hold of each other, may we always be close, and maybe the friendships will grow stronger. :) I do hope to have a reunion 30 yrs later like mrs chan did with her classmates last week, but we'll have reunions earlier too right? hahaha. :D God Bless ya all! All the Best! ~There's no place like St. Andrew's.~

i'm feeling...
