Happy Feet isn't so Happifying

SilverScreen Review:

Happy Feet

Rating: 3 stars

Happy Feet was a LET DOWN. The advertisements promised a fun movie with song and dance. However, WE were disappointed because the storyline was so messy that it threw the audience off track. The storyline was more lost than Madagascar's. The dancing finale wasn't enough to save it. The audience wasn't singing and dancing when they left the theatre. The car ride home wasn't as noisy as usual.

Happy Feet gets 3 stars because it had good animation (the blizzard scene). The artists also attempted to combine human actors with CGI. The last reason was the dancing.

Despite the all-star cast, the singing wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. Nicole Kidman was a bit too whispery, Brittany Murphy was throaty, both of which I do not like.

Robin Williams once again put his musical theatre training into use. He's a good voice actor and can sing better than the 2 I mentioned earlier. The leopard seal that chased Mumble didn't sound like Steve Irwin, who apparently voiced it.

All in all, the show did not meet its promises and high expectations. Miller should have used another angle in trying to get his environmental message across.

i watched the 9.30pm show, 2 hours until 11.30pm at Great World City. I think the salty popcorn wasn't buttery enough. Thanks MT for the Chocolate Fudge Brownie :).

I miss those hand drawn cartoons. nowadays it's all computer or stop motion. what happened to the QUALITY hand drawn cartoons, the ones Disney, and Fox, did so well? Anastasia, Prince of Egypt, Tarzan, Hercules, Cinderella, Atlantis, Mulan, all those DISNEY cartoon movies! haizz. i like them very much :). [during that morning chat with Shean, we were reminescing those disney shows, and now MT is doing that on the phone.]

i'm feeling...
