Me and My Local Friend Day 2

On Saturday, we j2s had me and my local friend day thing again. :D we did a hippo and duck tour. The hippo open top bus came to fetch us from school. so cool! Everyone sat upstairs for the trip to Little India and from Little India to Chinatown.

We walked around Little India for 1/2 an hour, which someones and I agree is too little a time to explore Little India. Didn't get to walk in Tekka Market. I lead the group to the Sri V temple down the road. I know Little India's layout quite well. I lead to much, walking in front of everyone by a "big" gap just waiting at certain points here and there for them to catch up. I'm a bad tour guide... for large groups at least.

by the way, this is a quick summary because it's getting late and i need to study and sleep.

At Chinatown we were given 1 hr. i was glad to make my way out of the tourist trap lane that we were dropped off at. HK found amusement at clapping at those plastic birds in the cage that would tweet if disturbed by a loud sound.

We found a desserts shop along temple street that i didn't know was famous! I had gui ling gao and some of the yam cake which HK bought for all of us to share. The yam cake was really good! HK taught Nithya how to use chopsticks the correct way. Nithya and YH shared a mango sago pudding, which was featured in The Sunday Times' Lifestyle section on Sunday. HK had mango pudding. a nice refreshment for a hot day. And it's quite cheap.

Walk walk walk, walked to Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. I sat near the front inside the smallish front courtyard. some people went inside, as they did in the Indian Temple. I didn't want to go in.

The sun was quite intense and it was warm, so we retreated into the airconditioned lower deck of the bus, parked at the carpark next to the temple.

When we were in the civic district, YS and I joined the others who had moved upstairs. It's the nicest place to sit upstairs at.

had packed lunch at the sky garden at suntec city. after a walk inside Toys R Us, we went for a duck tour. fun. :) the guide gave us all free duck whistles, which would otherwise be $3.50 at the counter. :D quaaak!

at the end of the tour, we got wet towelettes. i wiped it across my face, it was grey. other's were the same or darker. all the soot from the city, and the perspiration.

had a good time out, albeit a bit touristy, but hey, we got a whole bus and duckboat to ourselves!

on the previous saturday, MP, grace, eli and I went out for lunch. New York New York. we shared 3 plates of pasta, one was a marinara tomato based, one vongole and the last was a mushroom cream and spare ribs. ooo. beforehand, while grace and i were waiting at the restaurant, MP and eli went to buy $20 bookvoucher from MPH for grace birthday-in-advance present. we went out to celebrate eli's birthday, and we lumped in grace's too. haha :D

i don't want tomorrow to come. i don't want to leave this comfortable uniform-wearing small school sheltered world that i've been in for more than a decade. NO! :'( I'm getting old...

i'm feeling...
