pictures of Little India and other thingz...

pics here:

Rugby
06S03 and Lynn's Sprained Ankle

suprisingly, i DIDN'T take a picture of some of the other escapades of 06s03 during that period of time like MF copying Lynn's shuffling or the other "product testers" i.e. the ones who played with the crutch. i couldn't because i was too tall. haha. if i did, my grandmother would SCOLD me. haha!

today i went on a photog field trip to Little India. i had a great time taking pictures. i also learnt quite a bit like how to counteract certain problems. I interacted with some of the shopkeepers. some of my photos are nice! yours too eli! i didn't upload the pics onto the net. too many. altogether i took over 60 photos today.

supposed to meet at 9.45am at Little India MRT control station. I woke up late. I really don't remember my maids trying to wake me up and i retaliating at 7.30am as i told them to. after a cup of milo and final preparations, took a cab down.

We first took some photos around the MRT station for about 15 minutes. eli found a good shot of some bicycles. eli has some good shots. (that's a compliment to you eli)

after that we were supposed to take pictures along a certain row of shophouses next to the station for half an hour. eli and i went down the row slowly, looking around inside and outsid the shops, quite interesting! spent half an hour doing that. all of us were instructed not to use flash. i most of the time don't use flash because i like to use natural light. everything looks their best then. don't ya think so?

we then proceeded to Tekka market. we were advised to set our white balance to daylight mode eventhough the lighting inside is tungsten and fluorescent. this is so we can capture the atmosphere of the place. i kinda agree. the daylight mode catches the colour of the yellowish light on the objects and this artificial lighting is part of the market.

there are quite a number of tourists, i saw 2 pairs eating at the hawker section and a few others walking around. tekka market for many years is a photographers' haunt. a popular photo site. i went around to the butchers section and this indian uncle kindly let me take pictures of him doing his work. i then went over to the fish section. deanna taught me to take with a picture of the fishmonger so that pple will know that it's at a fish stall. i must improve my skills. the uncle was nice by letting us take the pics. i now know what a belt fish is. must learn to hang around for sometime to know exactly what makes me want to take a picture of that thing or place so i can take it in a good manner so that it'll look nice. i went around the food section trying to look for a shot but got nothing much. but that made me hungry. didn't mind eating lunch there actually. fishball noodles! i then went upstairs to take a bird's eye view of the fish and poultry section. saw a lot of punjabi suits there. must go back there for racial harmony day if i need to wear costume. i don't wanna. maybe i should find a tripod, i want to get super steady long exposure shots.

a lot of tekka market memories came back to me. i remember that 2nd storey "hole" i mean from the 2nd storey you can look over the parapet into the market. that's why i knew to go up there. i remember when i was primary 3 after training for sports day in school (i'm not some superstar runner that i wish i could be) mum brought me to tekka market to do some shopping. my primary school and grandmother's place is near to the market. there was some i think swedish people making a travel show episode. my mum explained that i just had sports day training (called house training)(embarrasing) and named the fishes for them. i don't know whether i was filmed. i was shy. i think i was cute when i was in primary school, with definitely better hair. haha. i also saw the fruit seller with encephalitis. i've always seen him when i went to tekka market, since the first time when i was 6. she explained to me that he got encephalitis. his face and maybe some other part of his body is really big like an elephant, now the left side of his face sagged. i saw him next to the meeting point at that particular staircase in the market. next to it mum would buy mini papayas which we would halve and eat with a teaspoon for desert. i'm not as good as my younger sis when it comes to eating it cleanly until only skin left. haha

gotta submit photos for some competition. "Nature in the City" don't really have a nice photo for it. i not quite sure how to do it. i can tell you however that the nature in the city is the roadside trees. i love the fact that they're there. helps bring down the temperature and block out glare.

my theme for photog is "going". basically anything that can use the word going in describing it. one of those good pictures is in the rugby album, unfortunately, got date on it. spoils the pic. sorry!

had pastamania lunch at PS with eli, taking MRT from Little India to Dhoby Gaut. after buying HK's prezzie, went home on the red line. eli's first time taking mrt, she usually doesn't use it. she's happy. to her father who dropped me home from the MRT station (my thighs hurt when i stretch it because of 2.4km run on thursday): ARIGATO GOZAIMASHTA!
